Who we are
Save Felton Common is a community group campaigning to protect Felton Common from proposed development linked to Bristol Airport expansion.
Our aim is to raise awareness of the threat facing this historic and much-loved area of common land, and to help protect it for people, wildlife and future generations.
Once common land is lost, it is almost impossible to restore.
WHAT IS
FELTON COMMON?
Felton Common lies to the east of Bristol Airport. It has been shaped by people since Neolithic times and remains a rare protected landscape for wildlife, recreation and public access.
WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Bristol Airport wants to expand again, adding millions more passengers, extra night flights, and new infrastructure across Felton Common. Current proposals would bring fencing, roads and rows of approach lights onto protected common land, permanently changing a landscape shaped by people and nature for centuries.
WHY IT MATTERS
Felton Common is a rare example of an open landscape that still supports traditional grazing, public recreation and protected wildlife habitat side by side. It provides an important refuge for wildlife including bats, badgers, barn owls and Red-listed skylarks, which rely on its open grassland habitat to breed.
